California Valley Region
March 23, 2017
Effective March 24, 2017, Stan Butkowski’s responsibilities at DBI will expand to include oversight of DBI’s territories in Sacramento, Chico, and Truckee, working on a transitional basis with John Janosko, the current Vice President of DBI Beverage Sacramento, who has announced plans to retire in June. Stan will continue to oversee DBI territories in Fairfield, Stockton, and Modesto both during and after this transition. In his new position Stan’s title will be Senior Vice President, Valley Region. Stan started in the beer business right out of college, with Pabst Brewing Company in Milwaukee, and has been in the business, which he describes as “infectious,” ever since. Over the years his assignments found him living in northern Florida, Louisiana, and north Texas. In 2003 Stan became the General Manager of DBI Beverage Memphis, the original DBI distributorship (which has since been sold). After five years in Tennessee, Stan and his family moved to Stockton in 2008 as part of DBI’s California expansion. In 2011 Stan’s role at DBI expanded with the addition of Fairfield to the territories he managed, and in 2015 Stan’s DBI role expanded further with the addition of the Modesto territory. Stan’s leadership and industry positions during his tenure at DBI have included service as one of ten members of the Coors Central Region Distributor Council while in Memphis, being part of the MillerCoors Walmart National Council for three years when first in Stockton and then of the MillerCoors National Chain Council in Chicago – the Council that helped vet the Communication Advantage, developed the Emerging Markets platform, and implemented preliminary work for Building with Beer. Stan is currently an active member of the MillerCoors National Distributor Council and sits on the MillerCoors Pacific Distributor Council. Under Stan’s leadership DBI Beverage San Joaquin has been the recipient of four MillerCoors President’s Awards and the 2016 Constellation Pacific Champion Award. And, closer to home, Stan’s DBI teams won four DBI Challenge awards - two in Napa and two in San Joaquin. Mike Sayler (Stockton and Modesto) and Kenny Deering (Fairfield) will continue to report to Stan both during and after the transition of responsibilities. Ryan Bosch (Sacramento), Geoff Rutherford (Chico), and Steve Holmquist (Truckee) will continue to report to John Janosko during the transition and after the transition will report to Stan. Between now and his retirement, John will work with Stan on a smooth transition of responsibilities.
From Stan: “None of this could be possible without the support of our owner, the senior managers at DBI, and my management team. We have developed a winning culture that makes coming to work a real pleasure. The Valley is now becoming a more unified entity, and we all need to continue our work on continuous improvement in this highly competitive industry that we all love. We need to ‘succeed and win as one,’ and that is what this position in the Valley will be focused on achieving.” All of us at DBI congratulate Stan on this promotion, and let’s all support Stan in this new role in every way possible, as we Succeed and Win as One!
